Lot 281 Antique Button Collection
This amazing complete button set 19 brass buttons of period design is suitable for making a complete buckskin, capote, or period re-enactment costume outfit with various button sizes to appoint a capote or re-enactment outfit. Button collectors will revel in the scarcity of this complete set made by prominent silversmith of the period. One button has the stamped maker mark "JO" in a rectangle cartouche the remainder are unsigned. The Montreal based silversmith was an associate of the famous silversmith Charles Arnoldi who influed his work as a fine silversmith until 1810. Also included is a Phoenix trade button #26 marked '1835' traded by Nathaniel Columbia River of which there are apparently less than 300 examples known in existence.
